Who is Fax Echo for?

Fax Echo is designed for organizations that use eFax Corporate by Consensus Cloud Solutions (or an authorized reseller) and require secure mobile access to inbound fax communications.

To use Fax Echo, customers must:

What is eFax Corporate, and why do I need a separate account?

eFax Corporate is a secure, business-grade fax service that gives each user their own fax number and centralized management. Fax Echo is an iOS app that connects to your eFax Corporate account, making sending, receiving, and notifications faster and easier on your mobile device. Since Fax Echo doesn’t provide the fax SaaS service itself, you’ll need a separate eFax Corporate subscription and billing directly with Consensus Cloud Solutions or their authorized partner. This keeps your faxes secure and your account compliant.

Why is Fax Echo available on iOS only?

Fax Echo was initially developed for iOS to deliver a focused, high-quality mobile experience with strong platform-level security, reliability, and performance. iOS provides a mature ecosystem for secure app deployment, consistent device behavior, and long-term OS support, which made it an ideal starting point for Fax Echo.

This does not mean that Android or web applications are inherently insecure. Modern Android and web platforms can also be designed to meet high security and compliance standards when implemented correctly.

At this time, Fax Echo is offered as an iOS app to ensure a streamlined experience and maintain development focus. However, Android and web-based versions can be developed upon request for enterprise or partner customers, including tailored security, compliance, and deployment requirements. Can we outsource eFax Corporate administration and support work?

How does Fax Echo support HIPAA and other security requirements?

Fax Echo is designed with security and compliance in mind and follows a shared-responsibility model.

Fax Echo itself does not transmit or store fax documents independently. All fax transmission, storage, and core compliance controls are handled by the eFax Corporate platform, which is developed and operated by Consensus Cloud Solutions. eFax Corporate is certified and compliant with industry-recognized standards, including HITRUST and SOC 2 Type II, and aligns with requirements for HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001/27002.

Fax Echo provides a secure mobile interface to eFax Corporate using authorized APIs. The standard App Store version is designed to minimize local data retention and does not support document downloading or local storage. Organizations that require document downloads must use a separately developed, organization-specific version of Fax Echo, delivered outside the public App Store.

ModalFlo, the developer of Fax Echo, applies additional application-level security controls appropriate to its role, including secure authentication, access control, encrypted communications, and minimal data retention. When required, ModalFlo can enter into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) for healthcare customers and a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for organizations subject to GDPR.

In summary, Fax Echo leverages the certified and compliant infrastructure of eFax Corporate while adding its own security safeguards at the application level. This layered approach helps organizations meet their regulatory and security obligations without duplicating compliance efforts.


What do we need to do in our IT system in order to use Fax Echo?

In most cases, nothing at all.

Fax Echo is designed to work without requiring any changes to your existing IT systems, servers, or network infrastructure. There is no software to install on desktops, no VPN configuration, and no on-premises hardware to manage.

Fax Echo runs as a secure iOS mobile app and connects directly to eFax Corporate’s cloud service, allowing your users to send and receive faxes without involving your internal network.

How does this work from a network perspective?

The only situation where a small network change may be required is if:

Do we need to modify or integrate with any internal systems?

What is not included in Fax Echo monthly subscription fee?
